Stonepeak Mountain Lodge & Stud now offers you three home away from home choices of accommodation with a variety of options in the magnificent Elgin Valley.

We pride ourselves on our organic apples, vegetables and herbs as well as our magnificent breeding warmblood horses.  We are eco-friendly and do not spray any pesticides or use any poisons on our farm whatsoever.  We prefer to be as self sufficient as possible and low impact on the environment which means we re-cycle, re-use and try to offer a back to basics approach to our farm, meaning we hope guests will make use of the magnificent garden, read our books, swim in our pool, go for lovely walks or jogs in the area, and play some of the games on offer. Reception is good at the farm but we do not offer Wi-fi or TV but a nearby bike hotel offers both and light meals and a bar.

Choose from the traditional “Out of Africa farmhouse” with its large rooms with wooden floors, leather couches and antiques setting the tone for this magnificent historical farmstead on Chosen Farm.

Alternatively we now have two new additions to our accommodation “stable”, namely the newly renovated “Up~cycled Green Cottage” which is a more rustic one bedroomed family cottage…

…….and the smaller but innovative “Pallet Pad” which is either a bed sit or can be a family unit      when combined with the “Outside Room”.

The Out Of Africa Farmhouse sleeps four in the main house in two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and the Outside Room can be added to the booking to sleep another two to three. It offers a full self catering eat-in kitchen with large lounge with fireplace and dining room as well as a covered veranda with mobile braai and pool in the LARGE pet friendly garden.

The Up~Cycled Green Cottage has been recently renovated and is a rustic cottage which can sleep a family of four sharing in a single bedroom or two on a sleeper couch in the lounge.  It has an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen with bar counter. The small veranda has a built in braai. All linen including bath towels are supplied. Self catering open plan kitchen has a fridge, microwave, gas hotplates, cutlery and crockery. It has been mostly recycled and a classic white picket fence made from up-cycled pallets surrounds the cottage which makes it perfectly safe for your furry companions.

The brand new “Pallet Pad” is a recently converted space utilising recycled pallets for the walls, beds, kitchen surround and a charming outside enclosed private shower. The bedsit sleeps two but can be enlarged by adding the “Outside room” to to sleep another two to three people. The Pallet Pad has a small kitchen with basic facilities including a microwave/oven, fridge and two hotplates. It also has its own fenced garden to keep your pets safe and a mobile braai.

This sunny room overlooking the garden can be used as an extra space for the main Out of Africa Farmhouse in case there are more than four in the group or it is situated next to the Pallet Pad bedsit so can be added to that for more space and comfort at an addition R1000. The room consists of two 3/4 sized beds and an additional single bed can be added for extra guests.

Centrally located opposite Oude Molen Distillery on the edge of Grabouw, the Lodge is within easy access of some of the best mountain biking and hiking trails in the Western Cape, near most of the wedding venues, top restaurants, wine farms and farm stalls. A nearby Bike Hotel offers a bar, light meals and Wifi for your convenience.

The latest adventure craze in the valley is only 15 minutes drive to the Cape Canopy Tours zip line which offers mind blowing views of the area, and the Eikenhof Dam at the Elgin Country Club is ideal for SUPing, swimming, picnics and also has a 4×4 route. The new Elgin Railway Market which is the first of its kind and can be visited utilising the iconic steam train from Cape Town harbour and is definitely worth a visit.
